The Kingdom of Lesotho is a small, very mountaineous country surrounded by South Africa. The largest part of the population is concentrated along the North-West side of the country, which is relativily flat. The road system is limited. Public transport is important but the number of large buses is fairly small and seems to have diminished if one compares 1988 and 2015.

Lesotho Freight and Bus Service Corporation and
Kokopshe a Mara are/were parastatal companies.

There is no bus building industry in Lesotho, buses all come from South Africa.
