The 11 meter long Bedford -Ikarus was the result of a collaboration between the two companies from the UK and Hungary to develop a rugged bus for service in Africa. After a prototype on Bedford YMT chassis in 1980 a total of 34 were built in 1984 (1), 1985 (2) and 1986 (31). They went to Ghana and Gambia.
