Imported buses in Sudan

As Sudan has no proper bus building industry of its own apart from very austere bodies on truck chassis, buses have to be imported. There is a lively trade in secondhand vehicles, some of which are shown here. They came from, among others, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Germany and Sweden. During the 1980's there were new buses from Japan, Korea, USSR, Spain, France/Italy, Egypt and Brasil. Most buses had a hard time in the country with its bad infrastructure! The pictures give an impression of the variety. More recenlty China has been delivering new city buses to Khartoum: 200 new light blue modern Yutong city buses arrived in 2011.
