The Barbados Transport Board was established in 1955, taking over buses and services of seven private companies. The buses were of British origin: Bedford, Leyland, Albion, Seddon. Bodywork was imported or built by the local manufacturer ACME. Gradually the fleet was modernised and in 2008 consisted of locally bodies Hino buses and larger imported Brazilian buses. Seen were (in 2008):

Also present are two replica open "Jitney" buses. The total number of buses is some 250. The company site give info on routes, ticketing, fleet and history of the company.
