The first phase of El Metropolitano, Lima's Bus Rapid Transit system, was opened in October 2010. Construction began in 2006. The system is 33 km long and uses around 300 grey articulated buses. Those were delivered by the local bus builder MODASA and King Long. The buses run on natural gas. There are feeder routes from various stations, numbered AS-02, AS-04, AS-07 and AS-08 (for Alimentadora Sur) and AN-01 to AN-10, AN-12 to AN-18 (for Alimentadora Norte).
