Normal control buses in Lebanon

Surprisingly quite a number of old (1960's/1970's) normal control buses were found in service in Lebanon in April/May 2009. Most were used by schools and were in a livery with light blue, but there were also some other buses used for personnel transport or on public transport routes. These were generally in a livery with red or orange though some of those were also used as school buses. All these buses were on Dodge chassis, though many were badged as Fargo, a brand name used by Dodge which survived quite long in the Middle East.
They all had locally built up bodywork of a distinctive design and style. Two body builders were identified through the builder's plates that were attached to three of the buses. These were Adjib Al Jamil & Sons and Bodywork Samaha Brothers. It is unlikely that these companies still build bus bodywork, if they survive at all.
