DEU-Stadtwerke Remscheid

Remscheid is the third city in the „Bergisch City Triangle“, consisting of Wuppertal, Solingen, and Remscheid, which is with around 110,000 inhabitants the smallest of it.

Major transport operator is „Stadtwerke Remscheid“ (abbreviated SR), witch serves virtually all city connections, though some interurban services are operated by other companies.

Remscheid is connected by rail since 1886, and the first tram operation began in 1893. Tram services ended in 1969. Remscheid is, like its neighbouring cities, affected by its industrial history.

The major hub is „Friedrich-Ebert-Platz“ in the heart of the city.

SR operates 17 day services (including services to neighbouring cities such as Radevormwald, Solingen-Burg,  Wermelskirchen, and Wuppertal. From 9 pm to midnight and on weekends until 2am, SR operates a network with 9 night services. Additional services running between Remscheid, Wermelskirchen, and Köln, are operated by Regionalverkehr Köln.

Another hub is the railway station of Remscheid-Lennep, where services to Radevormwald, Wermelskirchen (operated by Wiedenhoff) and Gummersbach (operated by Oberbergische Verkehrs-AG, OVAG) terminate.
